Prayer chapel benches

These benches have been through a lot since they made it to campus who knows how long ago. The picture above is what they look like before I started sanding. With 60 grit. The benches were sandblasted at least 2 years ago and stained with something that no one could remember. Doesn't that look pretty gross?

Here is the second bench on the buckets after it's third coat today of a special blend that Grandpa used on some cabinets in Nyssa. It was easy to apply with my paint brush. The first coat was completely soaked in within an hour.

And here is the finished product. Three coats, a polished name plate and some well used sand paper. Two done and five more. The book says something about if the mix is not right it could take days to dry because of the linseed oil. This bench in the bottom picture was dry the next morning. You can come to campus and check them out later in the spring.
